In order to create enduring profitability for Australian growers, the Grains Research and Development Corporation invests in world-leading research and development (R&D) that drives productivity within Australia’s grains industry.
While we have contributed to many gains in the industry, new challenges are emerging, particularly with regards to terms of trade and climate variability. In response to these challenges, we have introduced new management and business structures, expanded our regional presence, and increased our responsiveness.
Critically, we have also embarked on a new five-year research, development and extension (RD&E) plan with a focus on key drivers of long-term profitability: improving yield, maintaining or improving price, optimising costs, and managing risk. Australian grain growers’ competitive advantage relies on innovation and access to new technologies at a pace that is at least as fast as those of our international competitors.
